As the year was coming to an end, students were required to choose a specialty to pursue further studies in. They had options like software development, Internet of Things (IoT), cyber security & cloud, and IT consulting.
During this time, the university brought in high-level employees from each of these four industries to give lectures and provide insights into their respective fields. Sir S. Amrane was particularly interested in cyber security & cloud, as he had always been fascinated by ethical hacking. He was eager to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in this field.
As he listened to the lectures from the guest speakers, he noticed something interesting. Despite being from different cyber security companies, all four guests gave him the same answer when he asked them about the most difficult thing their companies were struggling with. They all expressed that finding new customers to generate more income and expand their businesses was a constant challenge. Many digital and online companies were unaware of the importance of cyber security, and for small and mid-sized businesses, it was often seen as an expensive and unknown field.
Moreover, Sir S. Amrane also discovered that these digital and online companies, who had secured their businesses, mostly relied on recommendations from friends or connections for their cyber security needs, without proper knowledge of the best practices or the market.
This realization struck a chord with Sir S. Amrane. He realized that there was a significant gap in the market between cyber security companies and digital online businesses, and he saw an opportunity to bridge that gap. He embarked on an extensive two-year research journey, spending countless hours researching and reaching out to over 5,000 companies to understand their cybersecurity challenges, obstacles, and needs.
The results of his research were astounding. 78% of the companies he surveyed confirmed the gap in the market that he had identified during his initial observations at the university.
